Teacher granted bail in sexual assault case
NT Legal Correspondent Panaji, Oct 29 The childrens court judge, Mr Desmond DCosta granted bail to the lady school teacher who had been charged with having unnatural sex with a minor. The court granted the bail to the teacher on a personal bond of Rs 5,000 and one surety of the like amount. The court had earlier rejected the bail application primarily because the investigation was in the preliminary stage and also because the accused was trying to evade arrest. A complaint has already been registered against the teacher under Section 8 (2) of the Goa Childrens Act and Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. According to the complaint filed by the mother of the minor boy at the Colva police station, her son was abused.
