Some Benaulim locals demand justice to tuition teacher
BY HERALD REPORTER MARGAO, OCT 29 A group of Benaulim residents on Monday demanded that justice be done to the tuition teacher charged by the police in the alleged sexual assault of a 9-year-old boy. Carrying placards, the residents took a morcha to the Benaulim Panchayat this morning and asked Sarpanch Maria Fernandes to see that justice is done to the teacher. They claimed that the teacher is innocent and termed the allegations of sexual assault against the boy as false and baseless. We want justice to the tuition teacher. The teacher is innocent, a placard carried by the residents stated. The sister of the accused teacher told newsmen that the teacher has been giving tuitions since the last 14 years, adding there was not a single incident of sexual assault on any of the boys. She and others told Benaulim Sarpanch Maria Fernandes that not only the family members, but the students, ex-students, neighbours and other residents want that justice be done to the teacher. The Sarpanch later told newsmen that she would call a meeting of the Parish Council, residents and the Panchayat members to discuss the matter after the bye-polls. Today, the residents have claimed that the teacher is innocent and sought justice for the teacher, the Sarpanch added. http://oheraldo.in/pagedetails.asp?nid=3573&cid=26 Sanny de Quepem <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com
