Dismissed lady PSIs HC writ petition hearing today
NT staff Reporter Panaji, Oct 31 The dismissed lady police sub inspector, Ms Sandhya Gupta has filed a writ petition in the High Court and the hearing is slated for tomorrow. It may be recalled that the Director General of Police, Mr Brijinder Singh on October 10 had dismissed her from service for allegedly demanding a bribe from a person charged under NDPS act. Her dismissal came a day after a constable attached to the ANC, Mr Rajesh Warring was caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau officials at Mapusa while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000, allegedly on the behalf of the PSI. Her dismissal was based on the report presented to the DGP by the Anti Corruption Bureau stating that she had been asking the mother of an accused, Mr Sunil Datwani for a bribe to allow her son to travel to Mumbai. Her son had been arrested in a contraband drug case on September 22 at Arpora with charas weighing around 9 grams. Later he was bailed out but was asked to report to ANC every day and the PSI had demanded Rs 40,000 from his mother just to allow her to travel to Mumbai on October 2. After getting frustrated, the mother Lajnanti Datwani, had taped the conversation of PSI at a restaurant in the city and presented as evidence before the ACB. Based on ACB report, the DGP termed her as the main conspirator and Mr Warang had acted on her behest and dismissed her as per Article 311(2)(b) of the Constitution of India. http://www.navhindtimes.com/articles.php?Story_ID=11019 Sanny de Quepem <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com
