Luizinho guns for Churchill’s head
MARGAO, NOV 3 (HR) - With the Congress romping home with an unexpected lead of 40,902 votes, there’s clamour in the party leadership to take to task the Save Goa Front as well as leaders from within the party accused for indulging in anti-party activities. SGF supremo Churchill Alemao, however, called up Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and Francisco Sardinha from Delhi and congratulated him for the victory. He reminded the CM that the SGF had made an appeal to its supporters to rally behind Sardinha. Former Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro was the first to gun for the head of the PWD Minister and SGF supremo. Without taking names, Faleiro said the verdict is a “slap on the face” on those who had openly worked against the Congress in Navelim. And, Faleiro said it’s high time the Congress High Command takes cognisance of all the “documentary evidence” to prove that that Save Goa Front workers had worked against the Congress candidate. “We have evidence to show that the BJP meetings were organised by the SGF office bearers. BJP’s polling agents were the same who had worked against the Congress in Navelim in the Assembly polls”, he said. Later, when newsmen asked MP-elect Francisco Sardinha to react to reports that SGF and other party leaders worked against him, he quipped “if they have indeed acted against the party candidate, they will suffer in the days to come”. He however said the party would have to first prove that these leaders had acted against the Congress. Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat preferred not to comment on SGF’s overt and covert support for the BJP. Taleigao MLA Babush Monserrate too said the Congress party should take action against those who have worked against its candidate though he didn’t name anybody. http://oheraldo.in/pagedetails.asp?nid=3797&cid=2 Sanny de Quepem <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com
