Freedom fighter Krishnarao Rane passes away
Panaji, Nov 6 A well-known freedom fighter and president of The Navjivan Society of Freedom Fighters, Azad Bhavan, Porvorim, Krishnarao Rane died after a brief illness, today morning. He was 74.Rane was admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim after he suffered from brain haemorrhage on Friday night. The family members rushed him to GMC where he was admitted to ICU.
The members of the governing body of Navajivan Society of freedom fighter attended the funeral ceremony and paid floral tribute to the departed soul, today afternoon.
Krishnarao Rane was an important member of the Azad Gomantak Dal and had participated in the armed struggle during Portuguese regime. He was honoured with a Tamra Patra by the Union government. He was also honoured by the Goa government on Goa Revolution Day for his courage and action in Goan freedom struggle. His funeral was well attended by people including freedom fighters from all over the state.
