THEATRE MATTERS:
a Theatre Workshop by Sanjoy Ganguly,West Bengal.

The Mustard Seed Art Company, Goa, is organizing a short theatre workshop on 11th, 12th & 13th November 2007 in Panjim.

The workshop is being conducted by Sanjoy Ganguly of Jana Sanskriti, West Bengal. Sanjoy Ganguly is a well-known theatre personality, founder of Jana Sanskriti: this is a theatre group based in West Bengal, but it can now boast of member groups in many states in India. Sanjoy has been deeply influenced by Brazilian theatre practitioner and theorist Augusto Boal who advocates a Theatre of the Oppressed. Jana Sanskriti performs theatre with grass-roots workers, farmers, people who live in deprivation and other marginalized communities. It has twice organized an international theatre festival in Kolkata called Muktadhara, with the participation of various communities who believe in theatre for change. Noted theatre practitioners like Boal (who has developed the concept of the spect-actor) and Jane Plastow are regular collaborators. Sanjoy has just completed a number of workshops this year in Istanbul, Kirghistan and a number of other countries.

As The Mustard Seed Art Company completes 20 years of existence it offers people in Goa the rare opportunity to interact with Sanjoy Ganguly, a very inspiring theatre person. ( Theatre Matters ) . The workshop is to be held on 11th, 12th and 13th November 2007 from 5pm to 8pm at Don Bosco High School, Panjim. It would be of great interest and utility to members of NGOs, youth groups and lovers of theatre in general.

A limited number of participants can be accommodated.
