PANJIM: An unprecedented employment potential of over 442,000 has been assured in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the state alone, despite the fact that there were [only] about 90,000 unemployed youth registered int he Employment Exchange. This information was [made] available under the Right To Information Act. However, the break-up of nature of jobs has not been specified and there was uncertainity on the quantum of salaries in the SEZs. The qualifications for these jobs is also not mentioned. All these jobs have been assured in an area approximately admeasuring 1200 hectares of the Goa's total area of 3702 square kilometres. Most of these SEZ projects are coming up in the Verna industrial estate phase IV besides Keri-Ponda, Sancoale, Betul, Loliem, Socorro, Colvale and Pernem. The fact remains that the so-called 90,000 youth on the employment exchange's "live" registers are also employed somewhere else but have kept their names 'alive' in the hope of securing 'Government jobs'. Interestingly, one of the Mumbai-based companies whose applications has been forwarded to the Government of India for approval, has promised to generate nearly 200,000 to 500,000 jobs upon completion of the multi-product SEZ project. * * * NOTE: This information was secured under the Right to Information Act by the Goa Heritage Action Group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/goaheritage/ For copies of the original RTI reply see: http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1967371858&size=o http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1966518457&size=o http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1966512121&size=o http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1966505079&size=o http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1967325652&size=o http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1967320220&size=o http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1966487535&size=o http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1967309132&size=o http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=1967294594&size=o -- Frederick Noronha http://fn.goa-india.org Ph 0091-832-2409490 12000+ downloadable, sharable hi-res photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/fn-goa/
