To Goanet - The sarpanch of Keri, Vedesh Jalmi, was missing from yesterday's gathering with Matanhy Saldanha and others. It is rumoured that the Congress may have worked on him. South Goa has a different front to combat SEZ - ridiculous that for a small place like Goa we have 2 groups for the same cause.
The strategy of the Congress govt is simple - label people opposing SEZs and those lining up with Matanhy and Co as BJP supporters. Allege that if BJP comes to power it will approve all these SEZs anyway. Claim that SEZs all began with Manohar Parrikar. The trick - and it seems to be working - is to distract from the common cause, engender factions, and ultimately shred the anti-SEZ front. I fear the Congress dirty tricks methods are already showing results. This inability of Goans to unite behind a common purpose without regard to personalities and political affiliation will sink Goa. r Warm regards, r
