I have been following the mails exchanged on the issues os SEZ's and
Constructions by Rajan, Miguel and others. I am quite disturbed by what I have
read and seen in the photographs. It is HIGH TIME for a concrete action plan by
all those who love Goa. I would like to make a few observations / suggestions -
1. I have heard from reliable corporate circles that the big realtors like DLF,
MGF and others from Delhi have invested large amounts in Goa - either in
payoffs to politicians or bureaucrats - and they will not back off very easily.
2. Whichever party is in power the situation will remain the same as
politicians from all parties have been paid off.
3. The current movement of GBA led by Dr Oscar Rebello is going to face a far
different opposition, than it did last time while opposing the RP 2011. This
time the stakes are high and sooner than later, the mafia will get involved
either on their own or at the instance of the parties behind these deals.
4.As Rajan has rightly pointed out merely meeting the CM and discussing the
issues will not suffice. They will simply wear them out and gain time to
manipulate documents and approvals. What is needed is a mass movement. As
Vidyadhar and Rajan have suggested,a mass protest at the time of the
inauguration of the IFFi is apt and bound to capture the attention of the world
media amd focus attention on the wrong doings in Goa.
5. In Bombay, Ulhasnagar, Delhi, Kalyan, Domivli and elsewhere, the land mafia
have constructed illegally with impunity and then tried to regularise. The same
tactics will be used in Goa.
6. People like me, George and others who are based outside Goa cannot help much
on the ground, but if there is anything that we can do, please let us know.
7. Rajan has been doing a great and commendable job in photographing the
destruction taking place all over. He needs our support to continue doing so.

Marshall Mendonza
