About Armando Menezes, from the bio in 'Reflected in Water: Writings on Goa', edited by Jerry Pinto (2006) :

Armando Menezes (1902-83) was a renowned academic, scholar, poet, translator and essayist. He won many prestigious award and honours as a student in Goa and Bombay, and gained great repute as a professor of English while serving as principal of three different colleges in three different states. He was associated with Karnatak College in Dharwar for almost three decades, where he raised and educated his seven children, and guiden and inspired countless students and colleagues with his unwavering high standards and truly passionate love for teaching. Many of his best-regarded poems and essays were republished on the occasion of his birth centenary in 2002 as 'The Cradle of My Dreams: Selected Writings of Armando Menezes'.
