Dear Goans, Goa lovers et al, Time has come for Goa to celebrate the 4th. International Film Festival in Panjim-Goa, come 23rd. November, 2007. And preparations are fully on, from all quarters, may it be from the Government of Goa, or from the people of Goa from all walks of life, to make this IFFI-2007 a memorable one. For, this IFFI-2007 will demonstrate to the rest of the Nation as well as to the World at large that the people of Goa are more enterprising than they are thought or understood to be. Afterall, they have been under training by the enterprising Portuguese for almost four and a half centuries, and, these lessons have gotten into their blood-stream which couldn't have been washed away or diluted by mere 48 years of Delhi's influence.
Come one - Come all and witness the two sides of this memorable IFFI-2007 on 23rd. November, 2007. On the one side, the Government Goa, along with the retinue of its well paid and well bribed officials will be engaging themselves to show-case the hollow, already eaten-up inside but supercifially decorated GOA, towards which it has been utterly and totally indifferent and insensitive and to its people - the common man - lovingly or foolingly called the 'AAM AADMI', to sing and dance with floosies of tinsel-town brought on hire from all around, to bankrupt the already empty coffers of the State . And on the other side the almost reduced to nakedness - AAM AADMI will show-case to the Nation and to the World at large the extent of GOA's hollowness and superficiality, brought about through uncontrolled loot and plunder through over-exploitation of it rich mineral resources through near devastating mining operations; the festering problem of decay and stink through unwillingness of the powers that be to look at the Garbage and sanitation problem and resolve it; of depletion of our ground water resources so that the common man is unable to even have a decent drink of water to save his life; to succumb to the chronic failure of these titans to ensure un-interrupted electrical power even for a night to a house-hold, the destestable conditions of Goa's roads and Highways - to mourn for the untimely deaths of its youngsters on roads through avoidable accidents; the industrial polluters that are wantonly polluting our land, air and water, and who have been blessed to do so for private gains; the stray animals who have started claiming our market places, our roads , highways and our uncleared garbage bins; our public transport which cannot be the public transport of a state which is considered the number one state in India; our decaying bus terminusses, our unhygienic markets and public places, the open-air toilet that GOA has become to its visitors and migrant labour; the violation of our Coastal Zones where the natural safety cover has been eaten-up through massive encroachments; and, most importantly, the newly devised master-mind - the SEZs issue, which is designed to massively sell out Goa to the builder's lobby world-over for peanuts to filter into the government treasury while crores of rupees to go into the pockets of our so called rulers and their pimps and to consign the legitimate sons of GOA into the history minus their identity making the past 'Merger' issue to be looked upon with kind favour. Come one, come all, to witness these two proponents show-casing GOA through dancing together side-by-side on the streets of our beloved Panjim, come 23rd. November. May it be the Government Ministers and the elected class, may it be tinsel-town's celebrities, may it be the poor farmers who have already lost and are in to lose their family sustaining agricultural lands, may it be the impoverished COMUNIDAES of Goa who have been reduced to the role of beggars; may it be the NextGen stakeholders-the students from all over GOA to voice their displeasure and their sufferings, and, most of all, all those sensitive people toiling/working under the banners of social groups, NGOs, POLITICAL OUTFITS et al, whose voices have been reduced to croaks from having to shout from the roof-tops about the wrong doings of our elected class and the class that perenially works to get their patrons elected. If you should miss this opportunity, you will have lost a 'CARNAVAL GOAN STYLE' of a life-time, which carnival would be much more superior to the extravagant carnival witnessed even in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. REMEMBER - 23RD. NOVEMBER - 2007 - ALL DAY LONG - FROM 8.00 AM TO 10.00 PM - STARTING FROM THE CAPTAIN OF PORTS JETTY - PANJIM. ALL ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO INVITE YOURSELVES FOR THE TREAT OF A LIFE TIME ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Feel like changing the world? Step One: Change yourself. Step Two: Come out in the open. Step Three: Scout around for others who want to do the same. Step Four: Join them.
