Property in the form of residential quarters at Veroda Electricity Sub-Station
cuncolim worth crores of rupees lies idle since its construction about 20 to 25
years back..
There are in all 14 residential quarter at Veroda electricity sub station out
of which only one residential quarter have been occupied by a electricity
workman, though there are around 50 workman including officials working at the
Sub-Station. That though these residential quarters are lying vacant, the
department has painted the same around two years back by spending thousand of
rupees.
Presently most of the quarters are in a dilapidated condition. The doors and
window pains have been damaged. The electric wiring is worn out. Infact at the
time of construction of these quarters the department has made provision of all
facility including water as there big well within the compound wall to provide
water facility.
One of the villagers complaining to this correspondent stated that why the
government has painted the quarters about two years back by spending thousand
when there is no intension on the part of the department to give the
residential quarters to its officials? Is is not the waste of public money?
The electricity department is paying monthly housing allowances to its
employees, to whom its cannot provide housing facility . Why the same
department force its employee to use the vacant quarters and thus can curtail
expenditure in thousand incurred on houseing allowances, alleges another
villager.
