Goa to host Gold Festival from Nov 29 Panaji, Nov 21: Goa will host India's largest gold and jewellery Exhibition titled 'Festival of Gold 2007' in the capital city from November 29.
The festival organised by Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation (MMTC), a government of India undertaking with the support by ministry of consumer affairs will showcase 50,000 pieces of jewellery. "The exhibition is an initiative to provide quality, hallmarked gold jewellery to customers," MMTC chief general manager A Majumdar told reporters here. The exhibition will present stunning array of jewellery from various parts of the country including Kolkata, Rajkot, Delhi and Konkan region, he said. MMTC, which is country's largest gold and silver importer, claims to be growing at 46 per cent annually. "Gold is not just an ornament for many... People look at it from security point of view," Majumdar said.
