I contend that both D'Souza and Hitchens are
chauvinists, and I have absolutely no sympathy for
either of their main points of view. That they are
chauvinists is clear from their own stated
convictions.
Hitchens' position is that religion is a "threat to
human survival". He makes claims such as religious
faith is "both the result and the cause of dangerous
sexual repression".
D'Souza proudly states the following:
"Christianity is the main foundation of Western
civilization, the root of our most cherished values".
"The latest discoveries of modern science support the
Christian claim that there is a divine being who
created the universe".
