With all due respect Mr Ribeiro, I think my broader
point has been lost altogether here. My contention is
not that Americans don't criticise Presidents or that
Indians should not criticise their Prime-ministers.In
this case I'd be advocating censorship, of which I am
not a fan. It is that some heros are part of our
shared history, despite party affiliations. They are
accorded their rightful place in history and belong to
the nation. To now take potshots at them through the
prism of narrowly defined party loyalties, is to
splinter our collective national identity. In my
(insignificant) opinion, Americans share a tremendous
sense of shared history and the national pride that
comes with it, as short as their history has been.
This is my last post on this subject or else I'd be
accused of last wordism.
