Dears, It is with great sadness that I inform you that Britto Old Boy and Goanetter BOB Jorge de Abreu Noronha passed into eternity in Lisbon-Portugal on 27 November, 2007. [See photo at Member No. # 101 on the LIFE MEMBERS page of www.britto-oba.com]
Born and brought up in Feira-Alta ward of Mapusa in Goa, along with sisters Noemia Sobrinho [teacher at St. Britto HS in the late 1960s and early 1970s],Maria Imelda and Sr. Maria Alina as well as brothers BOB Mauricio [SSC of 1949], Vasco, Fernando and Henrique, BOB Jorge completed his SSC in 1951 after a stint at the seminary at Kandy-Sri Lanka where Blessed Fr. Jose Vaz [Patron of Goa] lived, worked as a coolie-cum-missionary and died. BOB Jorge was always proud of his Goan roots and Konkani language. He made it a pont to visit Goa, the last being in February, 2007. I was happy to meet him and Livia at the presentation ceremony of the first Floriano Vaz Puroskar to Bab Ashok Chodankar of Vasco on 04 February, 2007, at Margao. Married to Livia from Curtorim, BOB Jorge, was based in Oeiras-Portugal, where he taught at the university, wrote on Goa based net groups and shared a wealth of information with fellow netters. May his soul rest in peace. May the good Lord give comfort and courage to his wife, Livia, and children Georgina and Sergio. Mog asundi.
