In the shift from teaching Konkani to the people proficient in Portuguese to doing the same for a generation that is raised on a staple diet of English, some changes have been consciously made. The alphabet "Y", almost never used in Portuguese, has been introduced for convenience. So "Come" becomes 'Ye' or "Yo" instead of "ie" or "eo" and "Ready" becomes "Toyar" instead of "Toiar" The alphabet "K" is used as in "Kar" for "car" and "C" for "Ch" "Char" or Four. DD, NN, TT is used for emphasis on the consonent sound as in "Ghantt" for "bell" and Konknni for Konkani when written in Romi lipi. Write in Konkani as well as you can. Shortly after, Mario challenged you as well. His arguments, and mine, were very clear; you can have had no difficulty in understanding them. However, as yet, we have received no answer from you. Perhaps the matter has quite slipped your mind. So here's another chance for you. I'm reproducing below my original post to you. Dear Gilbert, I am quite puzzled by your logic. In what way does inflating one's own resume make one a casteist? Also, how does inflating one's own resume demean other Goans? Or are you stating that Cornel mentioned other Goans in a demeaning manner in his resume? Can you quote chapter and verse? This advice is for his own benefit - and yes > ours too. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to > clarify. Dear Gilbert, Pleease explain what you mean by referring to Cornel's "personal obvious weakness of Casteism." I do think you need to clarify that statement. Further, having admitted that you yourself are not a psychiatrist, and that psychiatry "is not your field," you quote an article by one Dov Michaeli MD, Ph.D to support your claim that Cornel is a casteist and a hypocrite. But the article is not about Cornel, has no relevance to Cornel, and I doubt that the good Dr. Michaeli ever set eyes on Cornel. What do you think Dr. Michaeli's response would be if you wrote to him asking him to certify (via email, and without any personal contact) that Cornel had "a well-known psychological concept / disorder termed 'cognitive dissonance'", and asked him to recommend psychological counselling? As a medical practitioner yourself you know that he couldn't possibly agree to your request, now, could he? So what you have in fact given us is an example of irrelevant psychoanalysis via email - surely a first in medical history! I will make my own views on caste known in a separate post. Please line up the best psychiatrists you know, because you will need them to identify whatever cognitive dissonance I am suffering from. With a smile on his lips and eyes focused on God?s will, he was laid to rest at his native place in Quepem. Attended by scores of his close friends, colleagues and manager from Mustafa Karam Firm, tiatrists and tiatr lovers and his well-wishers with tears in their eyes and a prayer, the requiem mass was offered by Kuwait-Goa Tiatristanchi Sonvstha (KGTS). Bab Sanny was one of the rarest jewels produced by the Konkani stage and known among the tiatr lovers for his scintillating songs on social and moral subjects. His specialty was in composing and singing songs in a unique way. His songs served as a whip to all types of injustice in the society and for the Goan causes. He mesmerized Goans as an actor, composer, singer, and writer. Though in his fifties, he had the style and caliber to perform as an evergreen singer with his youthful looks and his trademark shaved torso. His last song will be much cherished on his theme of fostering unity among mankind. Always eager to assist and help, the tiatrists fraternity will feel the void left in his dealth. The death has snatched away a dear friend and an entertainer from us. A meeting was held at the Royale Terrace Restaurant, Salmiya on 17th November 2007 and KGTS members took this opportunity to offer prayers and poignant tributes to this Konkani stage artiste and singer and conveyed heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family. In his maiden speech in the Parliament after his election to the Lok Sabha from South Goa Constituency in the October 30 bye polls, Sardinha expressed dismay that a Governor could be attacked in the manner of which the Goa Governor SC Jamir was ambushed the other day and appealed to the Government to ensure that the Governor is safe in his own country. The Governor of Goa has been barred from entering Nagaland by an insurgent group and the silence of both the State Government and the Central Government, raises some interesting Constitutional implications, he said. "Jamir, being the Constitutional head of a State, is the representative of the President of India. Can any representative of the President of India, or any bonafide citizen for that matter, of the country be barred from entering any other Indian State, and that too, by an insurgent group," he questioned. Narrating the sequence of events, Sardinha said, "On November 24, 2007, the Governor's convoy was ambushed reportedly by the NSCN (IM). Four strategically planted explosives went off a few feet away from his car as his convoy passed by. This was followed by a fusillade of gunfire from above the road. A few 2-inch mortars also exploded near his vehicle. Miraculously, two mortars which landed very close to his car could not explode. The State police have recovered these unexploded mortars. Four other explosives which were buried could not explode and was later recovered by the Assam Rifles. One was detonated while the others were defused. Had these explosives exploded as planned by the insurgents, we would be gathered here paying obituaries to His Excellency the Governor of Goa? "The silence of the Central Government on this dastardly attack on the Governor of Goa is sending shivers up the spine of nationalists in the country. It is not only an attack on SC Jamir, but it is an attack on the Constitutional position that he holds. "With this submission Sir, I want to make an appeal that the Governor is safe in his own country," he said.
