They may be first settlers of Goa, they may be residing at a distance of one
kms. for the Tar road and two kms. From the Quepem Pirla main road but still
after 46 years of Goa liberation they have been denied all the basic amenities
of life which are necessary to live a decent life. This is a case of
inhabitants of Dhangar Community residing at Camon Maina, Quepem.

Canon of Quepem taluka is at a distance of 15 kms. From Quepem town. There
are seven Families of Dhanger Communities residing in Seven different houses .
The total population of the village is around 70 out of which around 40 are
elders and discharge their voting right. Even after 46 years of Goa liberation
they still live in darkness though to take electricity to the ward may requires
just 15 to 20 electric pole. The electricity has reached upto the houses of
High Caste’s who are residing at a distance of about one Kms from the said
ward. Forget about a Kacha road there is also not proper path way to go the
ward.

Manglore or country tiles have reached even to the remote areas but in this
case all the seven house are made up of hay they are still standing on wooden
poles. The houses appears to be cattle sheds. Not a single house has a door to
protect their belongings. Every years, every part of our house we have to
repair otherwise it is very difficult to stay in during rainy season informed
Bombo Bavdhar.
The panchayat has not even allotted them house number in the present houses
in which they are residing as can be seen from their ration card though they
are residing over their for centuries together . They are also not aware that
their houses are recorded in the survey records.
There is no any water facility provided by the government either in the form
of well or tap water.
One Tuko Bavdar informed herald in summer season particularly in the month of
April and May we have to face lot of water problem. We have to walk at a
distance of about half an hour to get a bucket of water that we have to dug a
pit of about 2 meter deep in the Nala to get water.
Although there are around 14 elder who have cross the age of 60 years not a
single senior citizen has availed the benefit of DDS Scheme. No body has made
them aware nor helped us to get the benefit of the scheme informed the village
elder Loku Kokre.
One Bombo Bavdhar of around 56 years old informed herald that I was born over
here and even both my parents died over here.
One Babu Kokre a school student studying in standard informed herald that
Villages like kerla or Cagugoto can be provided electricity by making provision
of around 100 poles why not for were requires only 15 to 20 poles.
God only knows when the situation of these ward may improve.
