GBA-MMC joint exhibition and presentations on ODP 2011 for Mapusa
The exhibition on ODP 2011 for MAPUSA drewing a steady stream of citizens since 10.00 A.M. . GBA members Architect Pravin Sabnis, Aaron Pereira and Miguel Braganza were on hand to explain the salient features of the ODP and the planning process. There were two presentations the afternoon by some of the GBA members like former PMC/CCP Councillor and GBA Secretary Patricia Pinto, Architect Pravin Sabnis and Architect Ritu Prasad, with knowledge of ODPs and planning at 3.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m. in order to make it convenient for the public of Mapusa to attend. Most of the MMC Councillors , led by the current Chairperson Ms Sneha Bhobe and former Chairperson Sudhir Kandolkar, attended the presentations and were available for discussions at these presentations. Prominent among others who attended were Gurudata Bhakta, Ratnapal Salkar, Jerry Braganza, and a large number of members from the Save Tivim Movement and the CCF groups from Socorro, Aldona and Assagao. The J.E.s of the MMC also attended the presentations. These presentations were held to explain the salient features of the ODP 2011 for Mapusa and the major changes that will take place, specially near the Civil Court complex at Feira Alta and near Mid-On Mini Market at Ganeshpuri, with proposed conversion to C-2 zone, behind Government office Complex at Morod with truck terminus and warehousing, as well as with C-2 and Institutional areas near Police station at Ansabhatt The concerned citizens, specially the MMC Councillors, architects, businessmen and parents of students and others who will be affected by the increased traffic congestion [specially near the Court- Altinho and Ximer-Khorlim] were able to understand the ODP and how it will affect their town which we hope will soon be empowered to plan for itself by implementing the Article 243 ZD inserted vide the 73rd and 74th Amendments to the Constitution of India. The NGPDA has not even consulted the MMC as is mandatory under the law.
