Dear Albert, The molestation of girl students in the Mulgao school is one of the many such cases that are getting REPORTED now a days. There will be quite a few that remain unreported. Unfortunately in our society, the VICTIM gets the stigma while the Culprit walks free. It is for this reason that a current Minister in the Goa Government whose daughter was on the train to hell in Rajasthan did not even have a complaint filed against the Goa College of Home Science for suppressing the information, let alone taking legal action to safeguard the students who are its responsibility during class and while on study tour.
As far as teacher and management behaviour is concerned, the book "Gently and Firmly" by C.P. Varkey sj [Pauline Press/ St. Paul's Publiciations/Stores] is a vey good guide. There is also another kind of molestation when teachers or principals sometimes harrase their students unecessarily. Many times the students of higher classes that need understanding and human touch are treated like dirt. Sometimes the authorities fail to understand the genuine need of a child.We generalise sometimes. Many times our presumptions are wrong. Those who teach higher secondary and college students specially now a days should also change their attitudes and instead of being like hitlers should try to replace hitlerism with love as these students are growing. Sometimes teachers and headmasters fire the parents when the later come for taking reports of their children without giving due respect for the grey cells.
