The GMAS caravan got rolling today in Valpoi in Sattari taluka. The open air
town meeting this morning (Mon, Dec 10, 2007) was addressed by speakers
drawn from several diverse organizations. The yatra then proceeded towards
Honda and Sakhali.
Tomorrow's programme begins in Pednem. This circuit will traverse through
North Goa for the first 4 days, then shift base to South Goa for another 4
days before culminating in what is hoped will be a massive show of strength
on December 18 at Azad Maidan in Panjim.
If the yatra route cuts through your village or is in the vicinity, consider
dropping by.
The speakers at Valpoi included Floriano Lobo (Goa Su-Raj Party), Amol
Navelkar (Utt Goemkara), Nirmala Sawant (Mhadei Bachao Andolan), Shripad
Naik (North Goa MP, BJP), Upendra Gaonkar (Shiv Sena), Ajay Pereira,
Convenor Matanhy Saldanha and others. Sidhanath Buyao rendered a Marathi
song extolling Goa. A recording of his anti-SEZ song in Konkani formed the
background refrain for the yatra.
