One girl from Deao, Quepem today filed a complaint against one Peter Gaunkar
alias Pedro Gaunkar, resident of Arlem Raia, Salcete Goa under Dowry
prohibition act 1961.
In her complaint filed before the Quepem police copy of which has also been
forwarded to S.P. South and Maina Curtorim police she has states that the
marriage between her and said Peter was fixed on 28/12/2007. The civil
registration formalities were done before the Sub-Registrar Salcete on
31/11/2007 and both had undergone even marriage course.
She further stated that said Peter Gaunker on the pretext of getting marriage
to her compelled her to leave the job in which she was employed for years
together thus cause her loss and damages.
However instead of getting married the accused in the first week of
December came to her house and started demanding exorbitant Dowry from her
family, and when her family showed their inability to give the exorbitant dowry
as demanded said Peter cancelled marriage with her . states the complaint
further.
In her complaint she had prayed to taking action against said Peter Gaunkar
under dowry prohibition act and also under Indian penal code.
