Hi Gabe
I am one of the anti-casteists who has been critical of the supposed
Catholics who also carry caste. I have repeatedly said that the two belief
systems are ideologically incompatible and nobody, to date, has been able to
challenge me on this point over perhaps three years.

I also said often enough that, caste in the Hindu community (the majority in
Goa) is a matter for brother Hindus to address. I simply confined myself to one
issue as in the above paragraph. Changing the world is definitely not on my
agenda.

I have no justification or any grounds to take on the Hindus in Goa and
indeed expressed the hope that, their brother Hindus who simultaneously pose as
Catholics, would decide on any one identity instead of having the dubious merit
of effectively being half-baked Hindus and half-baked Catholics. I don't
believe that this is an unreasonable proposition bearing in mind that the
Catholic Church has historically fooled these kindly souls, and continues to do
so that, entry into the Church is OK while still carrying caste.

I regret that some of the politics to which you allude are outside my
specific interest.
  Regards
  Cornel

We continually read in the Goan Newspapers about the various Hindu
caste groups that hold power in Goa - how come no one has castigated
these groups, who act in concert ?

If Catholics are being castigated - is it a case of we should know
better ? implying that the Hindus should not be held accountable ?

Unfortunately, it seems to me our 'change the World' people are
barking up the wrong tree
