Dear Vinay,
You are repeating a popular misconception.
Historical records show that the Portuguese
Inquisition was far tougher on the "New Christians"
(converts, especially from Judaism) than it was on
those Hindus who refused to convert.
But I think we can all agree, the Inquisition was
an abomination, and will remain forever something the
Portuguese nation will profoundly regret
