MEETING WITH CHIEF MINISTERS ON INTERNAL SECURITY TO BE HELD TOMORROW
A meeting with the Chief Ministers to discuss the internal security
situation will be held here tomorrow under the chairmanship of the Prime
Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh. Apart from the situation in Jammu & Kashmir
and North Eastern States, Naxalite violence and terrorism in the hinterland
will be the main focus of the meeting. Among the measures to effectively
deal with the threats to internal security, augmentation and modernization
of state police forces, training of police personnel, strengthening of the
intelligence apparatus, investigation of terrorism-related cases, security
in mega cities, border management, bilateral and international co-operation,
etc., will figure in the day-long meeting.
The meeting will be attended, among others, by the Union Home Minister, Shri
Shivraj Patil. The last meeting with Chief Ministers on internal security
issues was held on 5th September last year.
