samir,
Actually, a bullet is one of the least cruel ways to die. I would prefer to die
that way rather than being chased down and killed by a cat or hyena. I have
seen both these animals eat their victims while they were still alive. That, my
friend, is cruelty.

Dig the hole deeper.
Put in a pig with a lot of pig food and the leopard will find the pig that very
night.

Thirdly, a professional movie photographer would find it difficult to capture
eight seconds of a leopard in full flight. You have experienced one of life's
finer moments. I wish I was there.

A few decades ago, in Tanzania, I saw a leopard leap from a tree top to the
basket of a hot air balloon. Just as the leopard was about to get onto the rim
of the basket, the pilot started hitting the leopard on its head with a
champagne bottle. The leopard momentarily lost its grip. As it was tumbling
down, it managed to grab on to the 20ft landing rope attached to the basket.
The leopard then started climbing the rope in mid-air. We were stunned! The
pilot was unaware of this and began to land. Fortunately, when the rope hit the
ground the leopard scrambled away. All this took place in about 15 seconds. And
yes, there were others who witnessed the incident AND (Cecil) there was more
alcohol involved than one champagne bottle..

I am actually looking forward to your news.

Lastly, since we are on the second or third report of leopards in Goa in the
past two weeks, I would suggest that they are leaving their traditional hunting
areas because they cannot find food there. Something must be terribly wrong
with those areas.

As for the following gems from my southern church friend,

Sure it can. For the first 30 meters it would be sprinting at close to 40 miles
per hour. At the end of 150 meters, it would be going at closer to the pace of
a tortoise. The Umarye guy is alive because of this fact.

Garbage in = garbage out.
I can almost see you on the plains of Africa. Not only would you have an open
mind, but an open torso, your entrails out on the rocks, vultures circling on
the tightening gyre above. Your fingers, however, would be pointing to your
multiplications showing that you should have been able to out run the leopard.
