The Good News of of Jesus Christ tells us not to let our left hand
know what the right hand is doing ...... when doing good to others.
The ESG seems to have turned the Good News [Gospel] on its head and
did not tell its ESG Programme Committee Chairman [read Vishnu Surya
Wagh, the left hand of Digu Kaka] that is had the right not to give
the prizes to the winners on a date desired by him and informed to the
winners tele"phony"cally. ;-)
The entertaining part is that Digu Kaka, the CM of Goa, is also the
Minister for Art and Culture that funds the ESG. We know the Goa
Government culture of "Falleam yo" ..... and bluffing is a fine art in
Aldeia de Goa and also at the Escola Medica in the Novo Cidade de Goa.
Why go far when Fargo is near? The winners who came from far off
"aldeias" of Goa learnt it the hard way.
ESG gives IFFI artist awardees a sur'prize'
BY HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, DEC 22 — Nearly 150 artist awardees of competitions and events
organised during IFFI 2007 who were invited for a prize distribution
function at the ESG headquarters today had to return as ISG officials
allegedly failed to hold the function as scheduled.
The awardees who were asked to be present for the function at 3 pm
were shocked to find a deserted ESG premises and the absence of ESG
officials on their arrival at the venue today.
Alarmingly even the chief guest for the function who is the CEO of ESG
failed to turn up.
Only those present were the programme committee members who took full
responsibility for what they described as extremely embarrassing and
an insult to performing artists who had come from far and wide for the
function.
The Chairman of the Programme Committee Vishnu Wagh speaking to Herald
later today said, "We will take up this matter with the Chairman of
the ESG who is also the minister for art and culture and those
responsible will have to pay for it."
Wagh said that the function for December 22 was approved at the
governing council meeting of the ESG held on December 18 and that he
had forwarded a note to the ESG CEO on December 20 to have the
arrangements made for the function along with prizes to be awarded.
Wagh expressed dismay that no arrangements were made and the
auditorium where the function was proposed to be held — Marquinez
Palace — was also locked.
While Wagh refused to comment on whether the ESG officials had
boycotted the function, the news abuzz was that the ESG officials may
have taken offence to objections raised by members of the programme
committee at the governing council meeting over a proposal for
honorarium to ESG staff for extra hours of work put in for IFFI 2007.
The members had also turned down a proposal for extension of contracts
of ESG personnel.
