Dear Deelip, The GBA was ...and remains... an Apolitical grouping of individuals concerned about Goa. It worked because of it remained peaceful and focussed on its target.
The GMAS is a Political grouping of parties and individuals interested in political fall-out in addition, or in spite of, the achievement of its stated target. I hope to see it fail in achieving anything other than removal of SEZ in Goa. On SEZ, we have common ground. GMAS apparently has no popular base. Just the Communist Party, BJP, UGDP and the like ...Left, Right and Centre. ;-) No wonder they are not moving ahead and thinking of VIOLENCE, which they know in common. Perhaps they can recruit activists in Nandigram, Naroda Pataya and use the dregs of the KPA movement that are in the UGDP and elsewhere in its umbrella. The best that the GMAS and the YFG [Baby GMAS] could organise is known to the world already. Frustration breeds violence. That is what the kashmiri terrorsits resorted to when they lost public support, did they not? Do not underestimate their capabilities for violence. Just a few sticks of dynamite in the wrong hands can wreak heavy damage ....and dynamite is easily available in Goa. The SEZ Virudhi Manch [SVM] has a much better chance of getting Goa Govt. to dismantle the SEZs..... it is Apolitical, it is a "collective" [I use the word "Federation"] of site-level groups in Keri, Verna, Quitol, Sancoale, etc. You will be hearing more of it in the days to come.
