What really shocking or insulting was this..
He heard the noises of crockery and cutlery in the chardi hall, we
said ?Ah, aroz (pulav) asa mista, boxiamcho avaz eta..). To our
surprise, we never got that Aroz or stov (stew) and all we got is a
piece of birthday cake and soft-drinks. When we told this at home none
of our parents took this lightly and said ?never go to their place
again? but no one had guts to confront them simply because they were
of higher caste.

Jason Said:
I never ever remember discussing caste with my friends and peers (most
in their teens and twenties). The only time the much beloved 'casta'
comes to the fore is during the time of marriage and the issue
invariably is raised by the older generation. I have never ever been
asked what my caste is. I don't even know what it is. I do not need to
know. Jason

Hi All,
What is so shocking is that Jogoa has harboured this resentment
against the upper class (according to him) for such a long time. This
clearly indicates Inferiority Complex.
He has been to UK (so he says), what has he added to his life
experience? Nothing, but resentment from his early life experience.
Has he bothered to analyse why people are behaving the way they do?
If the Chardi in Goa spoke English and you (joegoa) did not, count
your blessings that you reached let-fet London, but still ignorant.

Let me give you an example: Jesus toppled money lenders tables and etc
in the temple - Why?
To understand that one has to be a Jew, why money was exchanged and
pigeons sold in the temple in the first place.
Similarly to understand why Chardi behaved differently towards SOME
kids and not all the kids of the village, one has to get under the
skin of a Chardi.

I have been to similar functions as joegoa and I was not invited into
the chardi dining hall why? BECAUSE I WAS NOT RELATED TO THEM. nothing
to do with caste.

I know of an instance where a Chardi family fell out due to - this
kids feeding business.
They were not well of Chardi, (unemployed tarvoti) so they decided to
have a low budget function and NO relatives kids from other villages
were invited.
Relatives of the same village and every other kid got the same
treatment. What treatment you may well ask:
GORDACHEM GODXEM.
One Girl who was related to them had her godxem and went into the
kitchen to have ROSSE PULLAO XACOOTEE etc (Joegoa's mouth watering
dishes).
She was given godxem again, which she refused.
Went home and complained that she was not given any thing to eat.
Fighting ensued, they were not talking to each other. - Caste System
IS IT Joegoa?

So you see: Casteists are holding the wrong end of the stick due to
their complex.
Like the old Communist of Russia and the Muslim fundamentalists of
today, these casteists are harbouring resentment against the let-fet
rich, that is all there is to it.
There is NO CASTE SYSTEM INVOLVED IN DAY TO DAY LIFE IN GOA, only in
marriage and that too due to the grannies (ask Jason).

Another example: Samira Ahmed of C4 News went to Egypt to do a survey
on women there, she found that 84% of middle class women were
circumcised, shocking?
Why? They said their grandmothers forced their mothers to get them done.
Similarly caste system in Goa exists because grannies want it so when
it comes to MARRIAGE, AND THEY ARE NOT ON THE INTERNET - Shame -
INNIT!!

I am now going to tell you What Caste System actually IS - I experienced it:
I was working as a Suveyor for a Co. in Jabalpur. Local high caste
people used to call me to do their land survey on the side.
After my work, they fed me in with their best china plates and
apologised for not having knives and forks.
After eating I HAD to wash my plate, they wouldn't touch it, why?
They said you are a SAHIB, an out caste, a Christian.

I would like to ask Jogoa, did the Chardi people give you the same treatment?
If Chardi kids were fed, it was because they were related (they mostly
are). either they came from far and had NOT EATEN or have to eat
BEFORE THEY LEFT.

I'm flabbergasted to hear that people in their old age still are
ignorant of peoples behaviour in Goa?
Why? because they wish to remain LOW CASTE - at least mentally, and
want to remind you constantly.
By talking about it, they are declaring their weakness.
My only hope is that by doing so they will at last have got rid of the
daemon that is bothering them.
HOW CAN ONE CHANGE SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT EXIST?
ED.
