Hi all, Just only emerging out of my embarassment with these birthday greetings... Generally, I prefer a private birthday, not only because I'm too old to be celebrating :-) and also because each day is a kind of birthday as long as we utilise it well. Maybe I shouldn't have been truthful with the computers and told them my date of birth. Some alarm must have got triggered off somewhere. If only computers could be more human, and forgetful :-)
Okay. Let me be gracious and say a 'thank you' for all the nice things you said about me. Knowing myself well (and being my own critic too), I know that nine-tenths of them are wholly undeserved. Yes, I have been involved with Goanet for long, and I do post a lot. But, on the other hand, I have myself gained immense pleasure (and more, story ideas, friends, useful information) from being part of this global network. So please don't believe I've done anyone a favour by being active on Goanet. I always say I've gained Everyone of us can gain from taking an active part in cyber-networks like this. Likewise, I've also believe that sharing knowledge and information adds value to life overall, so there's no way I can not share the information that comes my way. We all strive to find meaning in life in our own way. Finding some usefulness in cyberspace (and in the media) gives me some sense of meaning. So, you could call it an addiction :-) Every member of Goanet (and the other networks concerned) have contributed in their own way. Without its members, there would be no networks. So I think that we need to celebrate the participation of every one of us on this network. I am very grateful to Goanet for giving me a model which we have replicated/copied/reverse-engineered for other village networks in Goa, and some at the India-level too.
