The Goa Su-Raj Party is an integral component of "Goa's Movement Against SEZs [GMAS]" lead by the Ex-MLA/Ex-Tourism Minister, Mr. Matanhy Saldanha. Therefore, this Party would like to put on record that:- 1. The Party outrightly condemns the 'ill-thought' move by the Government of Goa of filing the 'FIR' with the Panjim Police against Mr. Matanhy Saldanha allegedly for inciting violence against visiting Tourists in Goa through his statements. It is precisely for this reason, believing that the Government of Goa would take recourse to high-handedness vis-a-vis the all Goa Anti-SEZs agitation when appropriately warned, that Mr. Matanhy Saldanha was authorised by GMAS to send out the 'appeal' to the general public as well as to the visiting tourists so that they may not be inconvenienced with the intensification of the agitation, which, it now appears, has become inevitable. There has never been a thought in the minds of the various citizens, NGOs, Social Groups and Political Parties who have come together in GMAS that the Goa Government, led by Mr. Digamber Kamat, would relent and give-in to the wishes of the people against setting up of SEZs in Goa without a fight. 2. The party sternly warns the Digamber Kamat Government not to precipitate the already increasingly volatile situation in Goa, which is all the more due to CAVALIER' attitude displayed by the Goa Government in further notifying a third SEZ, when there has been a clamour by the people of Goa to cancel the previously notified two SEZs, at Keri and Verna respectively. 3. It is very appropriate that the Prime Minister, Mr. Manmohan Singh is visiting Goa at this crucial juncture. Hopefully Mr. Manmohan Singh will see reason where his Congress-led Goa Government has preferred to remain deaf and blind to the realities, where the policy of the Central Government on SEZs has unwittingly opened-wide the doors to the unscrupulous elected representatives of the people of Goa to make money at the cost of rampant selling of Goa in the name of setting up of SEZs, which will have disastrous consequences on this 'world acclaimed' harmonious and environmentally sound 'tourist destination' and spell its doom.. 4. That the Government of Goa led by Mr. Digamber Kamat must choose between his powerful and utterly corrupt ministers and MLAs on the one hand and 'THE PEOPLE OF GOA' on the other .
