After reading the posting of SELMA (Message No 8, Date: Sat, 29 Dec 2007) I could get better understanding and perspectives about the book titled JESUS LIVED IN INDIA by Holger Kersten and also about Da Vinci Code - the hard copies of which are sold in millions!!
Along this line I would like to put across the net yet another book, by Barbara Thiering, an Australian scholar, which I have read. The book is titled JESUS AND THE RIDDLE OF THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS: Unlocking the Secrets of His Life Story, published by San Francisco: Harper Collins, 1992, HARPER EDITION. In which Barbara, gives elaborate analysis of the Essene and Qumran roots in the Christian life and teaching. The book runs in 451 pages; costing US$ 45.00 and is presently offered by: J.D. Holmes, Bookseller - Book number: D10R-11319 (This book could be ordered on line at: http://www.antiqbook.com/boox/hol/D10R-11319.shtml. In this book Barbara writes that Jesus was part of the royal priestly line of the Qumran sect, was born out of wedlock, performed no miracles, did not die on the cross but was drugged and later revived in a burial cave, married twice and fathered three children! The book also gives other vital details of The Dead Sea Scrolls. The purpose of mentioning this book is only to get clarity on the content of the book and possibly to know what's actual rather than getting carried away by the contents included in the book. This is more because most of the time books create deep carvings in one's memories much sharper than movies. More over I don't know much about Christianity other than basics which I learnt in my school days. More over I don't want to scribe anything in my memories which is not factual or misleading. Can some one in the net who has read the book give some clarity about Barbara's book and possibly on what prompted Barbara to write on Jesus and The Dead Sea Scrolls with reference citations.
