The predominantly Hindu India is in a mood for nothing other than economic prosperity by all available means. I doubt the two linked screeds reflect that mood accurately. What you see is in all likelihood rhetoric countering similar rhetoric on the other side. This is also what you see on Goanet. The apparently secular or loyal Catholic folk going after those who are apparently allied to Hindu nationalism, and vice versa, believing that they are defending against a monumental threat to their own way of life or the purity of their identity. All I can say is that the doomsday scenarios foreseen by soothsayers on either side are no more credible than any of the latest new year predictions. Cheers, Santosh
