To Goanet -
The past couple of weeks I have been spending my early
mornings and late evenings meandering through the
villages of Bardez. With the flood of migrants trampling
on and fouling our land, with the rich bhaile buying it
out (with the cooperation of the locals, needless to add),
with fractious Goans still squabbling among themselves,
I have calculated that it won't be long before the Goa
I knew and loved would cease to be. I want to take
in the sights before the final rites are performed on
this, the last paradise India will know in a long, long
time.

The Mae de Deus church at Saligao has now become a
tourist attraction. I wanted to shoot it (cue for Merwyn
Lobo to feel frisky, hehehehe) at that moment just
before the onset of darkness when the sky turns a
cobalt blue (you only get a 2-3 minutes window for
this). But I was nervous because Paulo brings in his
buses filled with the Goa Filmi Chakkar herd just around
this time. My heart sank when I saw two buses offload
what looked like humans (I could only tell for sure that
they were N Indians). Fortunately, the troglodytes beat
a hasty retreat and I took my shot (Merwyn, you can calm
down now, hehehehe).

Coming up: The Hindu treasures of Korgaon. And of
course, more of my "rabid" and "arrogant" posts.
Warm regards,
