Hi Carmo
Thanks for informing me that you were well and truly indoctrinated at your
primary school. Some would refer to this as being thoroughly brainwashed! I
would not wish such indoctrination on young kids. I would prefer to allow older
kids and young adults to choose from a number of faiths only if they want to.
On another point, I would not call skill acquisition and ability in hockey as
an education. For me, an education is something you have gained after
forgetting most of what you learned at school. Above all, education is about
independent critical thinking.
Perhaps you might indicate why, possibly, you disagree with my views above. I
don't think my own early education was significantly different from yours but
the outcomes do seem to be rather different and I value what I have. I have
also particularly valued in-depth discussion with rigorously trained Jesuit
priests.
