Dear Anthony,
I am NOT the Official spokesman of the SAVE GOA Campaign [popularly known as
Goa Bachao Abhiyan or, simply, as the GBA], I am a constituent of this Civil
Society Organisation [CSO].
Insofar as I understand, the GBA was formed to fight the REGIONAL PLAN 2011
that would have changed the face of Goa thorough drastic increases in Land Use
for non-Agricultural purposes and non-Natural uses. That remains unchanged.
When a body tries to do everything it ends up doing Nothing.
For women's issues we have Bailancho Ekvott, Bailancho Sad and Goa State
Womens' Commission besides the Woman & Child Protection Police force. Besides,
the tourists have their embassy staff to handle these issues.
Serious as the issue is, one needs to understand one's limits. One does not
call in the army to catch a petty thief. That is the job of the police.

I tell here with Kazakh & Expat colleagues as Goa as the best place in
India for foreign tourists, where one can swim in the sea during the X-mas &
new year with temp. of +30 deg.C or above.
This story is a setback to my campaign! Hope Save Goa movement will take up
similar issues.

PANAJI: Strict policing in Goa may have of late prevented foreign tourists
from becoming victims of sexual harassment, but the menace is far from over.
In a reminder that the police need to be more vigilant, a 27-year-old Russian
tourist has alleged that a proprietor of a shack at Uttorda beach in South Goa
outraged her modesty.
Police said, in the wee hours of January 8, Agnelo Noronha allegedly followed
the Russian tourist who had just checked out and was walking to her hotel.
Around 12.30 am, Noronha wrongfully restrained her and forced her into his jeep
and tore off her T-shirt.
The tourist, a doctor by profession who registered a complaint at the Verna
police station, said Noronha accompanied her on the pretext of dropping her to
the hotel and outraged her modesty.
Police said a case was lodged against Noronha and his jeep was attached.
Meanwhile, the Russian tourist left the place on Wednesday and Noronha moved
court, seeking bail.
