The singing by the first Goan team led by Purnanand Chari and Bindiya Vast Naik brought a change in the mood of the audience at the KONKANI NIRANTARI non-stop group singing to enter the GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS. The songs were found new, both in lyrics and delivery, by the largely Mangalorean crowd which enjoyed it just the same. Tomazinho Cardoz [former Speaker of Goa Assembly and memeber of the Governing Councils of ESG, Kala Academy, Goa Konkani Academy and Dalgado Konkani Akademi], Dr. Pratap Naik sj [Director of Thomas Stephens Konkani Kendr, Porvorim and Ph.D. Guide of Goa University], Bonaventure D'Pietro [Konkani Novelist, Author and Saxaphonist], Domnic Fernandes [Author of DOMNIC'S GOA fame],Joel D'Souza [Editor and creator of Daily Goa News Clips], Jose Salvador Fernandes[ Konkani Lecturer and Secretary of DKA] and Miguel Braganza were at hand to cheer the sole group from Goa perforning today. The "Kepemchim Kirnam" led by Elvis Goes and having Wilson Mazarello [Convenor of Romi Lipi Action Front and noted Tiatr personality] and Sharon in the troupe will perform at 8.00 P.M. , the penultimate group in the setting of the new 40 hours record to be completed by Mandd Sobann group of Eric Ozario. The group sang songs like "Hey Maie", "Gulli lagli" "Hem Goy tumkam apoita" and ended with the famous Ulhas Buyao composition about falling in love with a girl in Mangalore, originally sung in Mangalore with a local girls and the composer himself. Purnanand's was the fouteenth group and singing the thirteenth hour of the targetted 40 hours singing that will go on through the night. The unique feature of the Goa team was the Gender mainstreaming typical of Goa Purnanand and Bindiya both led the team and directed the singing. There have been women leders among other groups, specially of the Nuns, but none led by a couple [though not married to each other in life...except in music] Mog asundi.
