BICHOLIM JAN 27: The elections for the Sanquelim Municipal Council
(SMC) were held today peacefully even as

about 83.27 per cent people exercised their franchise.

According to the information given by the returning officer, Arvind
Bugde the election for the eleven ward SMC was

held today peacefully. Except for the ward I, where no candidate
contested, the election was held in all the other wards.
About 2934 female and 2967 Male voters turned up for today's election
at Sanquelim.In ward X there was highest

voting while in ward VII the voters count was seen minimal.

The following is the percentage of voting done in each ward 87%
(W-II); 76.16% (W-III); 80.59% (W-IV); 87.40%

(W-V); 81.30% (W-VI); 75.26% (W-VII); 84.42% (W-VIII); 80.82% (W-IX);
95.52% (W-X); 92.41(W-XI).

Bugde told that the counting of votes would be held tomorrow at
Municipal Hall Bicholim. The by-election process in

ward I, where the people have boycotted the election, would also be
carried out soon.
