photograph of Digamber Kamat staring out of one corner ) appeared in the
paper edition of the Navhind times on 25 January 2008 :

( This is not a joke....the jokes will follow in my commentary below . I have
typed out the advert exactly as it appeared....including the " MADGOAN "
bit ....similar adverts may well have appeared in other local papers )
I am at a total loss for words to describe this man who is in charge of our
Goa. While some " apolitical " individuals have almost exhausted their
vocabulary of superlatives in glorifying him , I think Floriano-bab in his
inimitable style ( see his response to Diana Pinto's letter ) is much closer
to the mark . I will restrict myself to asking you to look carefully one more
time at the way Margao has been spelt in the advertisement.
In passing , I am reminded of the emperor Nero who played his fiddle while
Rome was burning . I can see a similar scene here....chief minister Digamber
Kamat playing the harmonium ( as a chief guest at the 725648765th function
he has inaugrated ) while our beloved Goa is going down the drain.
