Maina Six won the 9th Fr. Aurilio Peris memorial Volleyball Floodlight
Tournament organized by United Boys of Ambaulim at Ambaulim Volleyball ground.
In an exciting final which was witnessed by around 1500 spectators Maina Six
overcome the stiff challenge of Xeldem by 25-23, 20-25, 25-16, 14-25 and
15-12. After losing the first set Xeldem put a brilliant show with the
brilliant performance from Pravas Naik and Krishna Dessai and comfortably won
the second and the fourth. In the final and deciding when side were changed
both teams were leveled at 8 all.
However in the final movement the brilliant combined performance put forth by
Reymond Satiago and Joseph at the net and Glore DÂ’melo in defence and three
shot out of Xeldem enable maina Six to snatch the match from Xeldem and win the
final .
Maina Six were awarded cash prize of Rs.7000/- and a Rolling Trophy at the
hands of Chief guest Quepem MLA Shri Chandrakant kavlekar and Zilla Panchayat
Member Subhash Fall Dessai while Xeldem were awarded a cash prize of Rs.4000/-.
Krishna Dessai of Xeldem was declared best player of the tournament.

Francisco Clemento of Fire services won the cross country road race organized
by youth Club of Quepem to mark the republic day on 26th January from Quepem
town to Curchorem.
The competition was held in senior and junior category . In senior category
Francisco Clemento stood first who covered the 7 kms distance in 35 mts. he
was followed by Prasapa Binji and Arvind kumar. Clemento was awarded a cash
prize of Rs.3000/- while Binji and Arvind were respectively awarded a cash
prize of Rs.2000/- and Rs.1000/- each.
In Junior category Maxy Oliveira stood fist followed by Vikas velip and
Mahesh Borkar. Maxy was awarded a cash prize of Rs.2000/- while Vikas and
Mahesh were awarded a cash prize of Rs.1000 and 750/-
Earlier the rally was flaged off by Quepem MLA and GIDC Chairman Shri
Chandrakant kavlekar from Quepem town while CCMC Chairperson Abay Khadeparker
awarded the prizes to the winners.
