PAN=Permanent Account Number (Income Tax dept) This card is compulsory now for all Indians (including NRIs) particularly when dealing with mutual funds/Shares etc For more details, contact your Indian banks. It's good to have PAN card, it's like another ID Card issued by Govt. of India (Income Tax Dept) with your photo, Name, father's name, DAte of birth, your Unique PAN Number and your singnature on it (printed as in UK driving Licence).
