Very interesting Caje.

I notice the places (joints) are mostly Panjim/North Goa. Would like
to know your opinion on the affordable places in the South, the one
around Margao (station road, the place that does traditional fish
thaali). And hats off to you for mentioning the over
priced/nothing-but-hype joints.

As well, the best cuppa of chaai....many years ago, I was told of a
place in Ponda that was Panjim's favourite. Apparently (cannot
remember, if it was during the times of Bandodkar or Sashikala-taai)
but important political meetings usually got underway with a serving
of tea transported all the way from Ponda.

My fav is the chau-sheera at the Majorda train station............the
sheera is orangy and floating in ghee (healthy..u kiddin' me?), the
chau, redish and thick with local milk.....the tables, still marble
top and the furniture still wooden. Perhaps plastic made its way there
now. And then, if one is generous, a plate of large mirsang (baa-ja)
and the 'hit' of the chilly makes the world around you suddenly go
silent.

Joel's picture of the taali drives home the point...of a homely, warm
comforting Goan lunch,

CAJE'S BHAJI: LISTS OF FIVES WHILE FOCUSSING ON FOOD

By Cajetan Vaz

For those of you in Goa who listen to FM Rainbow
105.4Mhz, some of this may be deja vu. Last year I
started highlighting my Top 5 lists on my Friday
show 'Caje's Bhaji'. Now that FM Rainbow is out of
bounds for me, I thought it would be fun to share
some of my Top 5 lists here.
