To Goanet -
The cartel of businessmen benefiting from the loud
music blaring from boats, clubs, discos etc wants to
kick it up a notch: they are demanding that their rights
to intrude on and assault our lives be extended from
10 pm further out until midnight. They are also asking
for a further relaxation on the upper bound of the
decibel levels.
The din emanating from the cruise ships operating in
the Mandovi is unacceptable RIGHT NOW. These
miscreants want to take it to the next level in the
interest of their own cash registers but at the expense
of our peace and quiet.
Annand Madgavkar, who masquerades as a patron
saint of the civic life, is also party to this passel of
rotters. Obviously, the lure of lucre supersedes civic
responsibility and empathy. I say to Madgavkar &
his comrades-in-arms: GO TO HELL.
My PIL concerning Panjim admitted by the High Court
also encompasses the issue of noise pollution. There
have been people fighting this issue in the courts for
years. But we should never have had to go to the
courts in the first place.
