-- Samir Umarye BICHOLIM FEB 1: Scores of people from all walks of life paid their last respects to late Murari Chopdekar the All Goa Bhandari Samaj President at the final rites which were conducted at Mayem Bicholim on Thursday.
Murari Chopdekar who was also the vice president of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee breathed his last on wednesday at Manipal where he was undergoing treatment for cancer. Chopdekar who was earlier working as a junior engineer in PWD left his job and became a social worker. He also contested for the assembly elections in the Mayem constituency and was appointed as the president of the All Goa Bhandari Samaj. Today in the evening Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat; Home minister, Ravi Naik; Speaker, Pratapsingh Rane; GPCC secretary, Vishnu Wagh; shiv sena Goa president, Upendra Gaonkar; ZP, Jayidev Gaonkar, MLA, Anant Shet and several others paid tributes to Chopdekar. The body was brought to his native villlage of Mayem where hundreds of people bid a tearful adieu to the departed leader.
