Goencho Carnival
Just prior to the 3-day Carnival wherein Goa also witnessed the Brazilian
Samba which was really nothing new for a sailor like me.Although Brazilian
Float did participated in the floats at Panjim and Margao,one cannot compare
the Brazilian Carnival to the Goan one.Some days prior to the recently held 3
day Carnival,the one time beautiful state of Goa also witnessed a six day
political carnival which I really enjoyed a lot.The float consisting of 40
participants with some of the participants like Jr. Rane etc. where not only
performing Samba,but a mixture of Rumba-Samba-Pop-Rock and what not.The Goa's
political float was at its best and stands first as far as the world's
political floats are concerned.The sad thing is, the political float failed to
participate in any of the floats competitions held all over Goa.At least they
should have made their presence felt at the traditional fat-fat Saturday night
at Varca which was witnessed by Salcette's great political
artists.Although fat-fat Saturday at Varca was a great success,it would have
been on the records if Goa's aam admi don Digu bab had participated in the
fancy dress competition.
