As I looked out of the bus, I suddenly remembered Rajan Parrikar. Yes,
it was filled with 'ghantis'. I guess that's what you could call them
all -- people crossing over the ghats (the hills along western India),
probably unwanted in their destination, and all just travelling
because of economic need.

But the shoe was on the wrong foot here. The 'ghantis' were speaking
Konkani, they were getting set to travel by the Volvo 6 pm bus to
Bangalore, and they were all people like you and me! (In fact, I was
already on the bus!)

They appeared to be largely Goan, going probably for IT-related jobs
in India's wannabee Silicon Valley. Couldn't help wondering how
Bangaloreans (or Bengalooruuwallahs) see people like us "invading"
their city (well, I've even peed on their roads once... the shortage
of toilets is not just limited to Goa... thankfully nobody
photographed me... or if they didn,. I didn't get to know.) FN
