To Goanet - Early morning at the Chapel of the Mount Mary -
http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/marymount-1.jpg An old picture c.1925 of the chapel taken by G. Souza, published in J. Loueriro's book - http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/marymount-old.jpg I wanted to take shots of the Church of St Cajetan but it was too foggy. Nevertheless, it was an ethereal atmosphere - http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/marymount-2.jpg >From Old Goa on to the village of Cuncoliem, ringed by hills and nurtured by leafy kuLAgars. This old temple of Narayan contains magnificent idols from the Kadamba period - http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/narayan-cuncoliem.jpg In an ananas (pineapple) orchard near the Shantadurga temple in Cuncoliem lies this herostone, around 700-900 years old. It depicts the decapitation of a hero (see the panel at the bottom for the headless hero and his decapitator with the raised sword). Offering of heads in those days was not uncommon. The Ravalnath temple in Pernem has an entire gallery of stone heads. http://www.parrikar.org/images/samples/herostone-cuncoliem.jpg Regards, r ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
