The message No 7 that appeared on Goa Digest, Vol 3, Issue 178 with a subject tiled - Why religion is not a private matter? - is quite an interesting subject. Most may agree to Sex to be a private matter but I don't know how the same persons will react to calling religion to be private matter! Fr. Ivo da C. Souza might explain to us much on this issue!! I hope he explains.
As for me, the concluding line used by the author in above message attracted my attention. This line as is used states - If we are to survive then we must muster all the courage and conviction we have and speak up, speak out and speak against all that is wrong within our own religious dogmas as well as that of others. Though I liked the last line something triggered me for using the last few words in that line i.e. ..as well as that of others. It is these last few words of the last line compelled me to recollect the previous posting of the same author that appeared in Goanet under subject - Hiunduism and Henotheism dated Tuesday Feb 12.07 that appeared on Goanet on Wednesday February 13, 2008. This message which was initiated by the author as a response to Fr. Ivo da C. Souza wherein author clearly states that - I can say with some confidence though, that being a lover of history, I know more about the history of Christianity, Judaism and Islam, then most people on this forum and so I do speak with some facts, figures and understanding of the matter being discussed. It is this line as is used by the author in the message titled Hiunduism and Henotheism dated Tuesday Feb 12.07 read together with the line used in the message titled Why Religion is not a private matter indirectly conveys a lot! A simple interpretation says that the author has in-depth knowledge about Christianity, Judaism and Islam and does not know much or anything about other religions! It's good to admit such things rather than someone proving otherwise!! This simple interpretation helps us presume and conclude that the said author's postings on any other religion other than Christianity, Judaism and Islam are not based on facts & knowledge but are simply hearsay expressions to be considered as gossips and ignored! Goanet members of other religions, other than the three religions pronounced by the author, can take not of this. This is the case of an author speaking the truth! Well done..keep it up!! Best regards, Dr. U. G. Barad
