The Nav Yug Vikas Manch on the occasion of Shivaji Jayanti Felicitated the
noted Konkni writer and daughter of Quepem Dr. Jayanti Naik for her
contribution towards Konkani literature at the hands of Chief guest and member
Secretary of Kala Akademy Dr. Pandurang Fal Dessai in presence of Quepem MLA
Shri Chabndrakant Kavlekar, ZP member Savita Velip, Subhash Fal Dessai.
Speaking on the occasion Chief guest and Member Secretary of Kala Akademy Dr.
Pandurang Fal Dessai stated that Dr. Jayanti Naik inspite of all odds has
excelled in her own. He further stated today there is no value in
felicitation in the true sense as today people sponsors to get them felicitated
by other which created a bad impression about felicitation . Only when great
nations like USA recognizes the contribution of our great personalities then
only we came to know the greatness of our people and not before that. Stated

Quepem MLA Shri Chandrakant kavlekar in his speech stated that by organizing
different activities children get a chance to show their talents and excel in
their field . When great personalities like Dr. Jayanti are felicitated other
get motivated to work in their field. Stated MLA further.
Replying to the Felicitation Dr. Jayanti Naik stated that the books which I
read from the book shell maintained by my father ignited in me the spirit to
patriotism. As my nation was already free I have decided to show my patriotism
towards my nation through my writing . I have decided to contribute to
konkni literature. She further state that Quepem culture, Quepem folk dances\
like Dhalo, shigmo, itruz , natural buity such as river , paddy field, hills,
mountain were instrumental in reaching me to such a height in my field . She
regretted over the shifting of intellectual youth of Quepem to cities and
appeal to the youth of Quepem to be in Quepem and work for its development.

audience the work done and award won by Jayanti .
On the occasion Nav Yug Vikas manch organize fency dress competition based on
the life of Shivaji. In Junior Category Subham Fal Dessai bagged the first
prize while Preeta Kunkoliker and Tanvi Suktanker respectively bagged the
second and third prize. While in senior category Anant Rao Naik and Venkatesh
were awarded the first and second prizes.
The programme was compared by ZP member Subhash Fal Dessai while Sandeep fall
Dessai proposed vote of thank.
