KONKNNI BOOK OF POEMS "ZOIT ani her KOVITA" RELEASED
Zoit ani her Kovita, a book of 50 Konknni poems written by Walter Menezes
was released at an impressive function in Kepem yesterday by Pundalik Naik,
President - Goa Konknni Akademi in the distinguished presence of Chandrakant
(Babu) Kavalekar, MLA of Quepem and Chairman - Goa Industrial Development
Corporation and Jose Salvador Fernandes, noted Konknni writer and lecturer.

The book release ceremony which coincided with the 50th birthday of Walter
Menezes, was followed by a short cultural programme, Nach, Goa, Nach,
choreographed by Pramod Mhadeshwar and presented by members of Vivekanand Kala
Sadarikaran Manch, Keri-Sattari, Goa. Elvis Goes, Director, Kepemchim Kirnnam,
John Rodrigues, music teacher from Agacaim and Donald Muriel also participated.
Elvis Goes sang Jezu, Ixtt Mhozo and Konna Khatir Tori, two poems which
are part of the Zoit collection, and set to music by Elvis himself.
John Rodrigues and Donald Muriel were at their best on the violin and the
mouth-organ as they entertained the gathering at Pope John School Hall, Kepem
with vintage Konknni tracks like Calangute, Lisboa, Mollbavoilo Dov and
Kenna To Dis Yetolo.
Young Elodie Goes presented her first public performance on the violin with
Zolmacho Dis Tuzo while Shuelle Dias recited a poem dedicated to the
birthday-boy.
Special book-marks containing a poem, Candle in the Night written by
Walter Menezes in memory of Mother Teresa were presented to Sister Jacein,
Superior of Missionaries of Charity, Kepem and all the guests.
The function was compered by Elliton Fernandes, Dr. Gauri Shenvi Kudchadkar
and Anisha Menezes. Dr. Cinderella Menezes delivered the vote of thanks.
